 |
ST. LAWRENCE
O’TOOLE SCHOOL...The purpose of our school is to provide an
educational community enlivened by the gospel spirit of freedom and charity,
so that the light of faith will illumine the knowledge which students
gradually gain of the world, of life, and of mankind.
Our school encompasses pre-school through grade 8,
and is staffed by personnel who have a bachelor’s or master’s degree,
and are certified by the State of Illinois. They are assisted by a staff of
teacher-aides and volunteers that provides many special services for the
students.
If you require additional information regarding
tuition, enrollment, class size, etc., please contact the school office.

RELIGIOUS
EDUCATION PROGRAM...Our religious
education program exists for the purpose of ministering to the faith needs
of children of all ages. The program challenges students to find deeper
meaning in their lives and to recognize the presence of god in ordinary
events, as well as in liturgical celebration.
Instruction in the Catholic faith, its teachings, commandments,
sacraments, scripture and rituals of celebration is provided. Our program
provides solid doctrinal instruction, encourages faith responses and
celebrates our Catholic heritage.
The program for pre-school and kindergarten
initiates the teaching of essential readiness and social skills and develops
an awareness of God as our loving father. Students in grades 1-8 continue
their faith development in a program which combines life experience,
scripture, doctrine, morality and ritual celebration, and identifies them as
necessary components in a solid development in the teaching of the Catholic
Church. All grade levels contain common basic components (Trinity,
sacraments, church, morality, justice and peace, scripture, special feast
days and saintly people, prayers and precepts, and religious vocabulary) and
incorporate these into their particular focus for that level.

 |
CHILDREN IN LITURGY...The Family Mass Team works to present one Sunday
Mass each month focused on families with young children. The liturgy of the
day is simplified for the young children’s understanding of the message.
Team members work with children who participate in the liturgy as readers,
gift bearers, etc. This includes the presentation of the Christmas pageant
at the first Mass on Christmas eve.
